My earliest recollection of being introduced to music was through Ozzy’s Diary of a Madman album. The haunting images on the album cover and the high trebled voice of Ozzy would echo in my mind as I lay awake at night. Following Ozzy’s career over three decades and hearing the vast accounts of his much publicized antics, he truly lived up to my initial perception as being a madman.
When deciding to paint Ozzy, it was this sinister side of him that I remembered as a child that I wanted to portray along with the malevolent feelings that his image and music inspires. Drawing from the aptly named song Diary of a Madman and remembering the sleepless nights as a child, there was only one fitting title –Voices in the Darkness.
