Mick has always intrigued me and inspired me.
By far the darkest of the four band members, Mick has maintained an aura of mystery throughout the history of the band. Rarely making headlines off stage and seemingly avoiding the spotlight in a band that is known for creating a great deal of drama, Mick seems to be an enigma. It was mentioned in the critically acclaimed biography (The Dirt) that in the bands heyday, while everyone would be partying poolside, Mick would be in his room with the blinds drawn and the lights out. It’s a nice change to learn that the man on stage isn’t a character but his true self. As Mick’s deteriorating medical condition has left him less mobile and in his own words “ghoulish”, it certainly hasn’t slowed down the hands of this guitar virtuoso. If anything, his medical condition seems to add to his mystique, and watching him live, one can’t help but think of him as a rock n’ roll wizard.
