Yenta

Jacob Mącznik

Yenta (also sometimes spelled Jenta in eastern Europe) was the sole sister of the wonderful École de Paris artist Jacob Macznik. She was also closest in age of his six siblings. She was very dear to Jacob. She is depicted with her eyes nearly closed, apparently looking downward without tilting her head down. She appears pensive and somehow quiet, mouth fully closed but not tightly so. The painting seems to have been done with great tenderness, capturing that quiet moment with great artistry.
