Obraz Polihymni, kobiecej muzy uroczystej pieśni, zasypującej swego wielbiciela i kochanka serdecznym uczuciem oraz licznymi gestami miłości i symbolicznych serc, jest dziełem sztuki reprezentującym styl romantycznego, symbolicznego i mitologicznego idealizmu.
Inspiracją do powstania tej pracy jest mitologia grecko-rzymska.
Polyhymnia była jedną z dziewięciu bóstw żeńskich – muz sztuki i nauki.
Jej specjalnością jest śpiew uroczysty ale także choreografia i geometria.
Muzy były utożsamiane przez Rzymian z camenae.
Były córkami Zeusa i Mnemosyne lub Gai i Urana.
Intencją autorki dzieła sztuki jest powitanie każdego widza, mężczyzny czy kobiety, ciepłym gestem serdeczności.
