Robert Henri began his formal teaching career in the Fall of 1892 at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, which was then known as “The Philadelphia School of Design for Women”, Henri having just returned from Paris and his first trip to Europe, where he had been a student at the Academie Julian in Paris from 1888 to 1891.
