The Prince JB oil painting is one panel of a triptych that marks the beginning of a new era in Tercio’s works with radical technical changes.
This shows two figures joined at the hip. The lower figure is a self portrait. The artist is presented as a mystical figure with horns and melancholic eyes.
By contrast Prince JB is conspicuously illustrated on the upper body radiating light. This mysterious composition suggests that the happiness of one is intrinsically connected with the happiness of the other.
Although Prince JB is the source of light and inspiration its the artist who provides him with intellectual and emotional powers.
