In a glacial landscape of cold tones the tree writhes in pain, mindful of the storms and the tribulations it has weathered. It is metaphor of the solitary human existence that, in the adverse and difficult moments of life, is sustained and comforted by hope depicted through sporadic shades of warm chromatic insertions. The blue tree, dry, bare and isolated in the landscape, is a subject belonging to the most significant period of Paolo Salvati who has reproduced it in other series. This work clearly represents the painter’s artistic research of capturing poetry in nature. The painting, pervaded by a melancholy lyricism, is a form of expressionism in which the sign is mitigated by colour as if the artist meant to reconcile them in order to achieve a balance between the two elements. The unattainable synthesis gives the work a fascinating tension.
