I sketched for a couple of days at Hongmantang which is the symbolically historical, cultural landmark building of South China Agricultural University. The country's first brick arch, the Hongmantang, known as “Cantonese shell," was built in 1958 during the great leap forward.
In 2009, South China Agricultural University celebrated its centennial anniversary. As one of the projects to celebrate the anniversary, the reconstruction project of “Hongmantang," was completed before the anniversary in October 2009.
I was told to shout at the window for tea, “Louhan, wo Shan yow cha” was to be my call but as it turned out I was well catered for by my good friend Mr Wang and Tong made me feel like an emperor.
Mr Wang is in the middle distance with his younger son.
