First belonging to the artist Haddon Sundblom, "Arabian Storyteller" was passed on to his wife, Elizabeth Sundblom, before eventually coming into the possession of the Society of Illustrators, who showcased the piece in New York from November 7 - 30, 1984 as a part of their "The Illustrator in America 1880-1980" exhibition. The piece then came into the possession of the auction house "Christie's", who sold the piece on March 5, 2009.
