The mythology of ancient Greece is a set of stories and legends that covered topics as diverse as the birth of their gods and heroes, the nature of the world or the origins and significance of their own cults. They formed part of their religion and scope of its history and with it explained natural phenomena, cultural differences, enmities or friendships, etc. One of the most curious ways of how the Greeks interpreted the space of time was using the analogy of the stages of the day with the so-called minor goddesses, that defined the changes of light and the passage of the hours.
"Hesperis, in Greek mythology one of the hours considered as minor guardian goddesses of the time of day that was from before dawn until after nightfall, clothes and numbed in their numbing a small sunset, providing step on welcome to the serene and empty darkness of the night."
