Samira Eskandarfar was born in 1980 in Tehran, Iran. She started painting in 1998 and since 2003 she has had seventeen solo exhibitions. Eskandarfar has made sixteen videos and short-films since 2003 and has participated in over hundred group exhibitions and screenings worldwide. Her video “A Dowry for Mahrou” was acquired by Tate Modern in 2009. Eskandarfar made her first experimental film “Root Canal” in 2013.

Eskandarfar’s work over the years has been more focused on human relations and humans inner worlds. She is interested in creating portraits through her paintings, collages, videos and other mediums she uses.
